A delegation from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has assured the family of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar (retd) that security agencies will pursue those responsible for his death and ensure they are brought to justice.
The delegation, led by the Chief of Administration (Army), Major General IM Abdullahi, visited the family of the deceased senior officer in Katsina on Sunday on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General OO Oluyede, and the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN).
This was disclosed in a statement by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, on Sunday, June 14.
During the visit, Abdullahi described the late Major General Abubakar as a patriotic and committed officer whose contributions to national security and the development of the Nigerian Army would remain enduring.

According to him, the late general distinguished himself throughout a military career that spanned more than three decades, serving the country in various capacities.
“Major General Abubakar served the Nigerian Army and the nation meritoriously for over three decades. His years of dedicated service and sacrifice will not be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to inspire officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” Abdullahi said.
He also conveyed the condolences of the CDS and the Armed Forces to the bereaved family, assuring them of the military’s continued support during the mourning period.
As part of the tribute, the delegation presented a National Flag to the family in recognition of the late officer’s service and sacrifice to the nation.
Responding on behalf of the family, Alhaji Dikko Mu’azu Ruma, the Gado da Masun Katsina, thanked the Chief of Defence Staff and the Armed Forces for their solidarity and support.

“On behalf of the entire family, the good people of Batsari Local Government Area and indeed Katsina State, we sincerely thank the Chief of Defence Staff and the Armed Forces of Nigeria for standing by us, especially during this trying period,” he said.
Mu’azu noted that death remains an inevitable reality and prayed for the peaceful repose of the late general’s soul.
Earlier, the DHQ delegation paid a condolence visit to the Katsina State Government House, where they were received by Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe on behalf of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
Abdullahi conveyed the condolences of the military leadership to the state government and people of Katsina, describing the death of the retired general as a painful loss.
Speaking during the visit, Jobe said the demise of Major General Abubakar was a tragedy for both Katsina State and the nation, noting that his commitment to public service and national security would continue to inspire future generations.

The deputy governor also called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to tackle insecurity and eliminate the activities of terrorists and other criminal groups operating in the state and across the country.
He reaffirmed the Katsina State Government’s support for military operations and other security efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the North-West.
In response, Abdullahi appreciated the state government for its support to the military, stressing that sustained cooperation between civil authorities and security agencies remains vital to achieving lasting security in the region.
Special prayers were offered at both the family residence and the Government House for the repose of the late officer’s soul.
The delegation included the Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General WB Idris; General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Major General BP Koughna; Rear Admiral AM Haruna; Air Vice Marshal AY Abdullahi; Major General JS Bindawa (retd); Brigadier General SK Usman (retd); and Air Vice Marshal IS Kaita (retd), alongside family members, traditional rulers and other prominent sons of Katsina State.
