BREAKING: Kogi deputy governor, Simon Achuba impeached

Image result for Kogi deputy governor impeachedThe Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Simon Achuba has been impeached.

He was removed by the house of assembly, after lawmakers deliberated on the report of a committee, set up to probe allegations of misconduct against him.

Chairman of the panel, Barrister John Baiyeshea on Friday led six other members of the panel to submit the report to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Kolawole Matthew, at the State House of Assembly in Lokoja.

Image result for Kogi deputy governor impeachedRecall that the Kogi State House of Assembly had earlier commenced impeachment process against  Achuba over alleged acts of gross misconduct.

This was after Majority Leader of the House, Abdullahi Bello, representing Ajaokuta state constituency, had at a plenary read a petition signed by 21 out of the 25 members of the assembly.

It was reported then, the move was amidst the lingering feud between the governor and his deputy which heightened the  suspicion that he might be impeached before the end of their first tenure.
