The Special Adviser to the President on Energy, Olu Verheijen, has met with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, for discussions focused on strengthening Nigeria’s energy and fiscal coordination.
In a statement shared after the courtesy visit, Verheijen said the meeting centred on ongoing efforts by her office, EnergyReformsNG, to deepen alignment between fiscal and energy policy frameworks.
According to her, the talks explored ways to unlock critical fiscal space and mobilise investment required to support the government’s target of increasing oil production to 3 million barrels per day.

The discussions also examined practical steps towards restructuring Nigeria’s electricity market to improve efficiency, strengthen investor confidence, and drive long-term sustainable investment in the power sector.
Both sides reportedly agreed on the need for coordinated reforms to accelerate economic growth and improve energy sector performance.
