The Ondo State Police have successfully rescued an abducted woman, Oluwaseun Adebayo, and apprehended four suspects in connection with the incident in Akure, the state capital.
Police spokesperson Olushola Ayanlade provided details in a statement to journalists in Akure.
He noted that the rescue operation was initiated following a timely alert from a vigilant citizen, with the abduction occurring on November 4 at approximately 6:30 p.m.
According to Ayanlade, investigations revealed that Adebayo was taken against her will along Weluwelu Street, Ilekun, Oda, in the Akure South Local Government Area.
A concerned bystander promptly notified the police that four young men in an unregistered Toyota Camry had forcibly abducted a woman and were heading toward the Shoprite roundabout in Akure.
Mr Ayanlade emphasised that the swift coordination between the citizens’ alert and the police response was crucial in preventing what could have been another tragic case of abduction.
