A former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed concern over the continued captivity of students and teachers abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

In a statement posted on Monday, Kwankwaso described the situation as deeply troubling, noting that the victims have endured prolonged hardship while in captivity.

He lamented that the abductees were unable to celebrate recent festivities with their families, underscoring the emotional toll on both the victims and their loved ones.

Kwankwaso called on the government to prioritise their rescue, stressing that urgent and decisive action is required to secure their release and prevent a recurrence of such incidents.

He further urged authorities to address Nigeria’s broader security challenges, stating that the country must “break free from the chains of insecurity” and ensure the protection of lives and dignity of all citizens.
