Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, peace and collective responsibility as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

Jonathan made the call in a goodwill message shared on his Facebook handle on Wednesday, where he congratulated Muslim faithful in Nigeria and around the world on the occasion of the festival.

The former president said Eid-el-Kabir symbolises faith, obedience and sacrifice, noting that the celebration offers an opportunity for reflection and renewed commitment to national unity and service.

According to him, the country is currently facing challenges that require collective prayers and actions, especially in the areas of peace and security.

He urged Nigerians to see the nation’s diversity as a source of strength rather than division, stressing that true nation-building demands devotion, sacrifice and a sense of duty.

“This celebration calls us to reflect on the great lessons of faith, obedience, and sacrifice. It reminds us that even in difficult times, absolute trust in God and willingness to put the greater good above ourselves will always lead to a path of blessing and hope,” he stated.

Jonathan further called on citizens to unite in safeguarding the country and working towards a secure, stable and prosperous future for all Nigerians.

“As we celebrate, let us stand together with renewed resolve to safeguard our country and guarantee a secure, stable, and prosperous future for all Nigerians,” he added.
