The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a man posing as a soldier along with three suspected car thieves, in what authorities describe as another major step in the fight against crime in the state.

According to the Command, the suspects were apprehended on the 8th of September after being involved in a lone accident with a stolen vehicle at Sabon Sara village in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area.

Police say the suspects initially fled the scene but were later tracked down and arrested by operatives attached to the Kafin Hausa Division.

Those arrested include 35-year-old Kabiru Musa of Rimin Kebe Quarters in Kano, 25-year-old Umar Ali of Haye Quarters, and 25-year-old Sabiu Bashir of Tokarawa village, all from Kano State.

The arrests followed a report filed by a victim, Hussaini Manager, who reported that his blue Golf saloon car, with registration number MGA 108 JG, was stolen at Agura Motor Park on the 7th of September.

Investigations revealed that one of the suspects, Kabiru Musa, claimed to be a Lance Corporal with the 102 Guard Brigade in Abuja.

However, checks at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse confirmed he was an impersonator.

Items recovered from him include seven ATM cards, two driver’s licenses, a fake military ID card, and other materials linked to fraudulent activities.

The suspects have since been charged to court after investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Dahiru Muhammad, commended the officers for their professionalism and assured residents that the Command will continue to pursue criminals and protect lives and property.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information to help the police tackle crime across Jigawa State.
