Experts at the first Africa-China Conference on Population and Development, are seeking to strengthen cooperation between African countries and China in the field of population and development.
The conference comes at a time when Africa is struggling with its population, many of whom are youthful, unemployed and unskilled. The consensus is that the continent could learn much from the Chinese model.
China has successfully managed to control its population growth, through far-sighted and firm policies.

Currently Kenya, Zimbabwe, Ghana and Sudan are on a transitional pattern to lower fertility levels, and in these countries, the average number of children per-woman is 4.
However, much More still needs to be done across the continent — Angola, Burkina Faso, Chad and Niger average about 6 children per-woman.
