Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on Nigerians to promote unity, peaceful coexistence and collective sacrifice as the country continues its economic and social reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In his Eid-el-Kabir message to Nigerians contained in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President said the values of faith, obedience, sacrifice and compassion associated with the Islamic festival remain critical to Nigeria’s pursuit of peace, stability and inclusive development.

Shettima urged citizens to use the period for reflection and support for the less privileged, stressing the need for national cohesion despite differences in ethnicity, religion and politics.

“This is a period of sober reflection, a season of reaching out to the indigent among us, of building bridges of brotherhood and sisterhood,” he said.

“What binds us together supersedes whatever divides us. As a nation, we must continue to strengthen the spirit of unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence for our collective progress and prosperity,” the Vice President added.

According to him, sustainable national development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of distrust and division, urging Nigerians to unite in confronting the country’s common challenges.

Shettima also assured citizens that the Tinubu administration remains focused on tackling insecurity, stabilising the economy, creating jobs and expanding opportunities across the country.

“Our nation is undergoing a process of renewal and transformation aimed at securing a more stable and prosperous future for generations to come. While the reforms may require patience and sacrifice, they are necessary steps toward rebuilding a stronger Nigeria,” he stated.

The Vice President appealed for continued support for the Federal Government’s reform agenda, noting that shared sacrifice and unity of purpose are necessary to overcome insecurity, poverty and other socio-economic challenges.
