Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has come under intense social media scrutiny after mistakenly directing his anger at Nigerian gospel singer, Tosin Bee, amid his ongoing child custody dispute.

The controversy followed Davido’s emotional appearance at the Lagos State High Court sitting in Yaba on Thursday over the custody of his daughter, Imade, with his estranged partner, Sophia Momodu.

During proceedings, tensions reportedly escalated when Davido clashed with a lawyer identified as Ebelechukwu Enedah, who represented Momodu. The singer later took to Instagram on Friday to vent his anger in a strongly worded post.

“@Belachukwu, I disgraced you in the courtroom. I was teaching you your work, you couldn’t even take it and then went on to mention my son.

“Like I said in the courtroom, I pray you never go through what me and my wife have gone through ever, and you were still smiling, smirking.

“You are a wicked human being. You are the worst lawyer ever. I beat you in court. You are not learned.”

The outburst was triggered by what Davido described as an insensitive reference to his deceased son during cross-examination.

Shortly after the post, the singer reshared content from Tosin Bee on his Instagram story, apparently confusing the gospel artiste with the lawyer involved in the case.

In the now-deleted post, Davido wrote, “And she has a son. Tosin you will live long amen with the rubbish you dey sing.

“So your son nah musician Bella Chukwu. You no even get sense. Make we help am. Useless people.”

The repost prompted a wave of online attacks, as some of Davido’s followers stormed Tosin Bee’s Instagram page under the mistaken belief that he was connected to the lawyer.

Reacting swiftly, Tosin Bee distanced himself from the matter, describing the development as a case of mistaken identity.

“Hello Mr David, I don’t know anything about the post you made. As a matter of fact, my mum went to be with the Lord eight years ago.

“I guess this is a case of mistaken identity. So sorry you had to deal with this, but my prayers are with you. I love you brother,” he said.

The incident adds another twist to the protracted custody battle between Davido and Momodu over their daughter.

Late Friday, Davido announced on X that he would be discontinuing the case, clarifying that he had not sought sole custody.

“I never asked for full custody. I asked for joint custody. Nobody won, nobody lost but Imade. There is nothing to celebrate,” he wrote.

He further expressed displeasure over developments in court, stating, “I’ve decided to drop the case because … until she brought out her last card! MY DECEASED SON! THAT’S A NO NO! Lowest blow!

“My daughter will grow up knowing I fought for her … let’s move on. One love!”
