President Muhammadu Buhari has intervened in the dispute between the Police Service Commission and the Nigeria Police Force over the recruitment of 10,000 additional personnel.
The Inspector-general of police, Mohammed Adamu and the chairman of the Police Service Commission Musiliu Smith, have been at loggerheads over this recruitment.
The crisis festered as the two parties could not agree on who has the mandate to carry out the exercise.
Mr Smith led other members of the commission to the presidential villa for the meeting. Also in attendance is Abba Kyari, the chief of staff to the president.
