A detachment of the Nigerian army on Tuesday invaded the premises of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Abia state chapter in Umuahia destroying properties and other electronic gadgets.
They also beat up journalists who were called to duty by their various media house in the state.
The army is in the south east where they relaunched operation python dance to deal with agitations, killings and kidnapping.
Meanwhile, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has called on the Federal Government to direct the military to call off its military operation in the South-East immediately.
The Chief of Training and Operations of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. D. D. Ahmadu, announced the setting up of the operation.
He says that Operation Python Dance II was being planned in the five South Eastern States to address “assassinations, attacks on security personnel, theft of weapons, violent agitations, armed banditry and kidnapping”.
But Ohaneze Ndigbo president, John Nwodo disagreed, saying Nigeria at this moment did not need such deliberate escalation of tensions and crisis.
