Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, says the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) remains strong and united ahead of the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that the party will retain power at both national and state levels.

The governor made the remarks in Dutse while receiving thousands of defectors from the opposition People’s Democratic Party into the APC.

Among those who joined the ruling party are former Jahun Local Government Chairman, Musa Garba, and 11 former councillors, alongside their supporters.

Governor Namadi says he is satisfied with the outcome of the recent APC Governorship Screening Exercise held in Abuja, noting that the process reflects the party’s unity and readiness for future elections.

He expresses confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC governors, senators, and members of the National Assembly will secure victory in the next general elections.

The governor says ongoing development projects and social programmes across Jigawa continue to attract more support for the APC.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, former Jahun council chairman Musa Garba says visible infrastructure projects, improved social services, and grassroots development initiatives influenced their decision to leave the PDP.

He pledges loyalty to the APC and promises to mobilise support for the party across Jigawa State.

Also speaking, Jigawa APC Chairman, Ahmed Garba, assures the new members of equal treatment within the party structure.

According to him, the APC remains open to all Nigerians willing to contribute to the party’s growth and national development.

Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly describes the defection as a wise political move and pledges cooperation with the new members to strengthen the party ahead of future elections.

The development comes days after Governor Umar Namadi appeared before the APC Governorship Screening Committee in Abuja alongside other APC governors and aspirants.

The screening committee, chaired by APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, commended sitting governors for their leadership and contributions to governance.

Professor Yilwatda says the party remains confident in its governors, noting that their performance records continue to strengthen the APC across the country.
