The Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Adamu, has met with with governors of the north west in Katsina state in order to review the security situation in the zone.
The meeting is first of its kind by the police authorities in the zone in an attempt to consolidate on successes being recorded.
It is a well attended event with governors in attendance being those of Katsina kaduna, Kano, zamfara, sokoto and kebbi states
The only governor in the region not in attendance is that of Jigawa state.
The Inspector General of Police explains that the meeting is a meeting point between key players on security and the leadership of miyetti Allah, aimed at finding lasting solutions to the killings in the region.
He cites the amnesty programme first initiated by Katsina state as a model that is now also working for zamfara state, which should be
adopted across the zone.
The host Governor Aminu Bello Masari stresses the need to quickly find lasting solutions on the security challenges which is undermining the
well being of the people.
