UPDATED: Court of Appeal clears APC to participate in Bayelsa gov poll

Image result for Court of Appeal okays APC to participate in Bayelsa guber pollThe court of Appeal has decided to stay execution of a high court order which disqualified the All Progressives Congress from  participating in Saturday’s Election in Bayelsa state.

This stay of execution granted by the Appeal Court, was with respect to a High Court order disqualifying the APC’s Deputy Governorship candidate.

The Appeal Court granted and made the following orders: “That the status quo ante bellum which existed on or before the 19th September, 2019 when the suit was filed be maintained pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.”

An interim order for stay of judgment of the lower court delivered on 12th November, 2019 pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.

The Motion on Notice to be heard on 20th November, 2019 and the Respondents to be served with the Motion on Notice and and copy of the Court Order.

After that, the minister of State for petroleum, who himself is a former governor of Bayelsa State addressed a press conference.

He wondered why the high court gave its decision in the first place
