Image result for Somali drought: UNICEF to help combat outbreak of cholera, DiarrhoeaThe United Nations Children’s Fund is scaling up its response in Somalia to combat a devastating outbreak of cholera and diarrhoea affecting the country as a result of extreme drought.

Six years since famine was declared in parts of south-central Somalia, the country is once again on the brink of catastrophe.

This time the drought is more widespread and has resulted in a chronic shortage of clean water. In some areas, water prices have increased six-fold.

In response, UNICEF plans to provide an integrated package of nutrition, water, sanitation and emergency health services.
