Two persons have been confirmed dead  while several others were injured in an explosion at a gas plant in the Magodo axis of Lagos State.

It was gathered that the incident which specifically happened at Second Coming Gas Station  along CMD road, Magodo started in the wee hours of Monday.

Our Correspondent reports that Lagos State Fire service, Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, LASTMA, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA and other emergency responders  were already on ground to put out the inferno  and prevent it from spreading.

It was gathered that those that died were those  sleeping around the vicinity, while the injured were officials of the Second Coming Gas Station. An official of LASEMA was also injured and has since been taken to the hospital by a standby ambulance.

Speaking in an interview with TVC News, the General Manager of LASEMA, Adesina Tiamiyu said the agency received an emergency call at about 7am, informing them of the inferno at the scene and responded accordingly. Adesina added that although there are different accounts of what led to the outbreak, he assured Lagosians that the agency will carryout a thorough investigation to unravel the real cause and prevent recurrence.

I live in Magodo Brooks Estate and was preparing to leave for the office when the first explosion sounded. All the agencies that came for rescue operation were very prompt to the scene and acted very professionally and efficiently. Special thanks to Federal and Lagos State fire services; they curtailed the fire and prevented it from spreading into Magodo Brooks Estate. My deepest condolences to the families of those that lost their life in the inferno.
