The chairman of the association, Ibrahim Bitrus said the rally was to demonstrate support for a well thought out plan by the government to bring about an enduring and sustainable solution to lingering communal disputes in Taraba state.

He urged the lawmakers not to feel threatened by the actions of herdsmen in the discharge of their constitutional obligations.

The speaker of Taraba State Assembly, Hon. Abel Peter told the farmers to follow due process by presenting their grievances during the upcoming public hearing in their various senatorial zones.

Some of the farmers who spoke to TVC News said the bill would address reckless killing of their members by Fulani herdsmen.

The protest by Taraba farmers took lace barely a week after Fulani herdsmen marched to the state Assembly, calling on the lawmakers to suspend deliberations on the anti open grazing bill before them.
