Tailor Confesses To Fabricating Bandit Attack For Social Media Fame

A young tailor identified as Qawiyu has confessed to staging and sharing a fake bandit attack video on TikTok in a bid to gain followers and boost engagement on social media.

The viral video, which falsely claimed that bandits had invaded the Atan Otta area of Ogun state State, sparked panic among residents after spreading rapidly online.

However, police investigations later revealed that the alleged attack never occurred.

During interrogation, Qawiyu admitted he staged the story to gain attention on social media, adding that the man in the video was only a cattle herder.

The incident has sparked concerns over the spread of false security information capable of causing panic and unrest.
