Nigeria’s Super Eagles kicked off their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a hard-fought victory over Tanzania’s Taifa Stars in their Group C opener.
The three-time African champions took control early, with defender Semi Ajayi rising to put the Eagles ahead before the break. Tanzania responded after halftime, drawing level and briefly threatening to upset the balance of the contest.

However, Nigeria’s quality told in the end as former African Player of the Year Ademola Lookman struck to restore the lead and secure all three points for Eric Chelle’s side.
