In a friendly football match which Nigerians are referring to as rehearsal for the Super Eagles performance in next year’s Russia World Cup, the former African Champions stunned football superpowers Argentina 4-2 in an international friendly played in Russia.
The Super Eagles came from 0-2 deficit to hand over a memorable defeat to the Messi-less Argentines.
Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi and Leicester’s Kelechi Iheanacho were superb on the attack, with Kelechi reducing the deficit with a curled free kick just before the break.
The Eagles came back in the second half even more determined and put three goals behind the Argentine goalie. Iwobi had a brace scoring in the 52nd and 72nd minute, the second via a well placed pass by Ahmed Musa, who came in for Kelechi. Brian Idowu scored Nigeria’s tjird goal in the 54th minute.
