The Senate has appointed a 20-Member Committee Led by Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, with Rufai Hanga acting as his deputy to monitor Rivers State Affairs.
Other members include Senators Ibrahim Lamido, Adamu Aliero, Osita Izunaso, Osita Ngwu, Kaka Shehu, Illiya Aminu Abbas, Adeniyi Adegbonmire, Sani Musa, Simon Lalong, Adams Oshiomhole, and Ireti Kingibe.
Also on the committee are Senators Onyekachi Nwebonyi, Idiat Adebule, Ideh Dafinone, Mohammed Maigari, Asuquo Ekpenyong, and Mukhail Abiru Tokunbo. The committee’s secretary is Charles Bala Mailori.

This comes amid growing concerns over the process of the state of emergency imposed in Rivers State and growing criticism of the appointment of a sole administrator to oversee the affairs of the state.
The Senate says it is determined to maintain oversight and ensure accountability.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has also constituted its own committee to carry out similar oversight in the state , signaling a coordinated legislative response to the unfolding situation in Rivers.
