The federal Government has been advised to consider the introduction of Peace Education into the school curriculum from the primary school level, to the University.
The National President, Society for Peace Studies and Practice, Nathaniel Danjubo made this known during a training on the emerging community security, Peace Building and Development in Abeokuta.
TVC News Kazeem Olowe reports that Nigeria is one of the countries in Africa confronted with many security challenges, raging from Insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, Cultism, armed robbery among others.
Successive administration have spent billions of Naira in procurement of weapons for the security but the situation has not changed.
Speaking on reasons why the Government should invest in peace education which is capable of instilling peace values and reorientating the citizens, the National President of Society for Peace Studies and Practice, Nathaniel Danjibo said peace Studies should be included as a subject in
primary, secondary and tertiary Institutions in Nigeria.
Participants say the training has helped them to understand why the country should invest in peace education. They also recommended peace training for all Nigerians.
Issues concerning early warning signs, negotiation, mediation, peace building, conflicts analysis and Community Policing were discussed at the
programme.
