The University of LAGOS, UNILAG, has held the end-of-tenure valedictory session for the outgoing Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe.

A score card of Professor Ogundipe as the 12th Vice Chancellor of UNILAG was presented during the programme.

It was a moment of pouring of accolades on the outgoing Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, UNILAG, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, at the valedictory session to mark end of his tenure.

Members of the university community spoke about his numerous achievements, despite several disruptions during his tenure as the 12th Vice Chancellor of the institution.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Development Services, Professor Ayodele Atsenuwa shared the agenda of Professor Ogundipe with the audience, themed UNILAG.

For many stakeholders in the university system, Professor Ogundipe’s research and innovation-driven management, as well as repositioning of UNILAG, is a roadmap that provides deep insights into 21st century learning in Nigeria.

Professor Ogundipe’s eventful tenure as the 12th Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos also saw the University hosting Nigerian University Games for the second time early in the year.

He was among Other things hailed by many for his many innovations as Vice Chancellor of one of the nations’ first generation Universities.

He also survived a running battle with a former Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Lagos, Dr Wale Babalakin, over an alleged abuse of office.

He was initially suspended from office but was eventually cleared by a Presidential panel and re-instated to his position as the 12th Vice Chancellor.

He is leaving the Institution with his head held high and will be succeeded by the First female Vice Chancellor in the history of the University, Professor Folashade Ogunsola as the 13th UNILAG VC.

Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe is an alumni of the University of Lagos.

Professor Ayodele Atsenuwa will act as the Vice Chancellor until the inauguration of the 13th Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos.
