A pro-Biafra group has distanced itself from the wanted leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
The Customary Government of the Indigenous People of Biafra said the court’s revocation of Kanu’s bail is in line with the law. It disclosed on Wednesday while speaking at its quarterly meeting in Enugu.
TVC News Correspondent reports that Justice Binta Yanko of the federal High Court Abuja recently revoked the bail granted to Nnamdi Kanu and ordered for his arrest. While some expressed reservations, a rival pro-Biafra group took a different turn.
The group said that a leader who cannot be law abiding, to the extent of jumping bail, is not worth the honour of leadership.
The leader of the group also explained how his followers would engage the Nigerian state in order to enhance their chance to self determination.
The court ordered the rearrest of Nnamdi Kanu for failing to appear for the continuation of his trial.
He was first arrested in October 2015 over treason allegations.
