The Nigeria Police Force has successfully graduated 325 operatives in advanced counter-terrorism and chemical weapons training.
In a statement signed by the force’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the four-week training, which took place in Nasarawa State, is in line with the strategic vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to build a more capable and resilient Police Force.
The statement reads, “The Nigeria Police Force has further enhanced its operational readiness with the successful graduation of 325 officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal–Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Basic Course 20/2025. This is in line with the strategic vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, to build a more capable and resilient Police Force.”
“The intensive four-week training, held from 12th October to 7th November 2025 at the Police Mobile Force Training College, Ende Hills, Nasarawa State, equipped participants with advanced skills in the detection, handling, and mitigation of threats posed by explosive ordnance, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and the unlawful use of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and other hazardous materials.”
It added, “Representing the Inspector-General of Police at the graduation ceremony, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the EOD-CBRN Command, CP Hauwa Ibrahim, mnips, commended the officers for their discipline, dedication, and teamwork throughout the course. She noted that the training emphasises the IGP’s consistent commitment to professionalism, capacity building, and strengthening the Force’s response to evolving security challenges across the country.
“The IGP further acknowledged the invaluable support of both national and international partners who contributed to the success of the training programme, such as the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), The HALO Trust, the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA), and the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development. He also recognised the contributions of specialised units within the Force, including the Directorate of Force Medical Services, the Forensics Section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), and the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU),” the statement concluded.
The Inspector-General of Police reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to continuous capacity development, assuring Nigerians that the newly trained officers will significantly bolster national security efforts, enhance public safety, and support ongoing counter-threat operations across the country.
