PDI board chairman asks EFCC to probe some NASS members

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has been asked to probe some members of the National Assembly of allegedly working against national development in the institute.

The call was made by the Chairman of the Board of Projects Development Institute, Daniel Onjeh.

Mr Onijeh accused the federal lawmakers of mounting pressure on the management of the institute to pay their preferred contractors, who are demanding payment for services they did not render to the agency.

It would be recalled that the House of Representatives had in February resolved that PRODA should stop all further procurement activities in the 2020 budget and pay contractors, suppliers and consultants who have executed contracts.

The House also said it was aware that the Federal Government had suspended the institute’s Director-General, Charles Agulanna; and the board chairman, Mr Onjeh.

But reacting to the development, Mr Onjeh said he was not suspended but was asked to “step aside” to allow government probe the allegations the board which he chairs levelled against Mr  Agulanna who was suspended based on the board’s recommendation.
