The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Katsina State says it arrested 2,088 suspected criminals and recovered over ₦56.6 million in cash during its operations in 2025.

The State Commandant, Abbas Moriki, disclosed this on Tuesday while briefing journalists in Katsina. He explained that the arrests stemmed from 4,230 cases handled by the command within the year.

According to Moriki, those arrested included 93 suspects linked to vandalism, 942 accused of theft, 272 apprehended for possession of illicit drugs, and 26 arrested over assault-related offences.

He added that 755 other suspects were taken into custody for crimes such as breach of trust, thuggery and related offences.

The commandant also revealed that 4,767 disputes were successfully settled through the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism, while 1,158 cases are still being processed.

He noted that 43 cases are currently before the courts, and 577 convictions were secured during the year.

Moriki said the command recovered ₦56,630,800 in cash, alongside several exhibits, including vandalised public infrastructure, bales of insecticide-treated mosquito nets, vehicles, motorcycles, bags of cannabis, and other illicit drugs and substances.

He attributed the achievements to the dedication of NSCDC personnel and effective collaboration with sister security agencies and key stakeholders. The commandant also praised the Katsina State Government for its support and thanked journalists for helping to disseminate security-related information.

Moriki urged residents to stay alert and promptly report suspicious activities or items to the NSCDC to enhance public safety across the state.
