The man who attacked a policeman outside the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris has been identified as an Algerian student who was believed to have committed the act as a form of revenge for the war in Syria.
French Interior Minister, Gerard Collomb confirmed the attacker was believed to have acted alone.

The suspect, who was also armed with knives, shouted “This is for Syria” when he attacked the policeman and slightly injured him.
Paris prosecutor’s anti-terrorism unit has launched an investigation into the incident.
