Federation of International Football Federation (FIFA) has awarded FIFA Women Under 20 World Cup hosting right to Nigeria.

President of Nigeria Football federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick confirmed on Friday that Nigeria has been given the right to host the next edition of the junior women world cup.

“It is an achievement for Nigeria and the Federation as well because for some years now Nigeria have not been able to host any international event.

“Now we have one with us and the preparation starts now. hopeful an inspection team will arrive any time next month for tour the four stadium that will be used for the competitions,” Pinnick said.

Nigeria’s Falconets have reached the final of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2010 and 2014, but ended up as runner-up after defeats by Germany. Previously, Nigeria hosted the 13th edition of the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup, from October 24 to November 15 across major Nigerian cities.
