NEMA presents relief materials to survivors of Owo church attack

Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, have presented relief materials to the leadership of St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo in Ondo State, where forty worshippers were killed.

The team was also welcomed by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who described the Owo terror assault as a calamity not easy to bear.

Succour has continued to come the way of those devastated by the burial of the victims of the terrorist attack on St. Francis Catholic church in Owo, Ondo on 5th of June.

Nigerians from far and near have donated in cash and kind to survivors of the deadly attack.

The latest donation came from the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, who visited the scene of the incident to present food and other materials to about 120 persons, affected by the unfortunate incident.

The Director-General of NEMA, Mustapha Ahmed, who was represented by the Director of Search and Rescue, Air Commodore said the relief materials would be handed over to the victims and their families personally.

The NEMA team also visited the palace of Olowo of Owo, Oba Gbadegesin Ogunoye, where they commiserated with the monarch.

Oba Ogunoye, who appreciated the gesture, described the attack as barbaric.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who welcomed the NEMA team, prayed that such senseless slaughter of innocent people would not happen again in the state or the South-West.
