The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, sealed off I-Fitness Gym located at Jakande Roundabout, Lekki Peninsula, Eti-Osa, Lagos State, over alleged indiscriminate discharge of raw sewage into public drains.
According to the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a statement via his X handle, on Tuesday, June 22, the facility was shut down after officials discovered that untreated wastewater was being discharged through pipes into public drainage channels, resulting in environmental pollution, public nuisance, and potential risks to public health.
“The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) on Tuesday 23rd June, 2026, sealed-off I-Fitness Gym, Jakande Round-about, Lekki Peninsula, Eti-Osa, Lagos, over indiscriminate discharge of raw sewage into public drains via pipe, thereby causing public nuisance and environmental pollution as well as endangering human health,” the statement reads.”
The enforcement action was carried out by the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office as part of ongoing efforts to curb environmental violations across the state.
The state government reiterated its warning that residents, businesses, and organisations must comply strictly with approved wastewater management regulations.

It added that any individual or corporate body found guilty of violating environmental laws will face sanctions, including possible prosecution under relevant statutes.
The statement added: “Lagos State government reiterates the need for the public to adhere strictly to proper wastewater management practices, noting that any individual or organisation found contravening environmental regulations will be meted with appropriate sanctions and possible prosecution in accordance with the enabling laws.”
