The Lagos State Civil Service Commission has concluded the screening and executive assessment exercise for candidates seeking appointment as the State Auditor-General.

In a statement shared on the official X page of the Lagos State Government, the commission said the exercise became necessary following the redeployment of the former State Auditor-General and was conducted in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, and the Lagos State Audit Law.

According to the statement, eligible officers were shortlisted after a review process and subjected to a comprehensive selection exercise aimed at identifying the most qualified candidate for the position.

The statement reads in part, “In line with its commitment to transparency, merit, and excellence in public service appointments, the Commission, in collaboration with Messrs. Intermarc Consulting, developed and administered a competency-based assessment framework.

“The Assessment Panel comprised the Head of Service, Commission Members, Permanent Secretaries from relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies, representatives of the Civil Service Commission, as well as experienced and retired public servants.

“The assessment process included the screening of personnel records, a Computer-Based Test (CBT), a written assessment, an oral presentation, a case study analysis, a group discussion, and an Executive Panel Interview. Candidates were evaluated on technical competence, leadership capability, strategic thinking, integrity, decision-making ability, and professional experience.

“Speaking on the exercise, the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Boladele Dapo-Thomas reaffirmed the Commission’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that only competent, ethical, and qualified professionals are considered for critical leadership positions within the Lagos State Public Service.

The Commission noted that the outcome of the assessment exercise will form the basis of its recommendation to Mr. Governor for the nominee to the Office of State Auditor-General, in accordance with the provisions of the law.”
