The Rashidi Ladoja has installed 18 Mogajis and 11 Baales in Ibadanland, charging them to uphold integrity and resist involvement in unlawful activities, particularly land grabbing.

The installation ceremony was held at the Banquet Hall of the Olubadan Palace in Oke Aremo, Ibadan, where the monarch reaffirmed his authority as the prescribed consenting authority for traditional titles in the ancient city.

Speaking through the Ashipa Olubadan, Salawudeen Amidu Ajibade, and the Ekerin Balogun, Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin, the newly installed chiefs were reminded of their roles as representatives of the Olubadan and the Olubadan-in-Council.

They were warned against any conduct that could tarnish the image of the throne and Ibadanland.

Oba Ladoja specifically raised concerns over the rising cases of land grabbing, describing it as a growing menace often linked to the involvement of traditional title holders.

“As my ambassadors, wherever you find yourselves, do not be involved in any nefarious activity so that you will not be sanctioned,” he warned.

He stressed that any chief found culpable in land-related offences would face prosecution and possible withdrawal of bail.

The Olubadan also urged the newly installed traditional rulers to prioritise security in their respective domains, describing them as chief security officers at the grassroots level.

He called on them to remain vigilant and proactive in tackling insecurity threatening communities.

Dignitaries at the ceremony included the Otun Olubadan, Eddy Oyewole, Otun Balogun, Kolawole Adegbola, and Osi Balogun, Abiodun Kola-Daisi, alongside other members of the Olubadan-in-Council, traditional leaders and invited guests.
