Kogi 2019: INEC receives sensitive materials for polls

Ahead of Saturday’s Governorship and Senatorial rerun Elections in Kogi State, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has taken delivery of sensitive materials to be used for the polls.

TVC News Senior Political Correspondent, Ayodele Ozugbakun who witnessed the exercise report that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, were at the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Lokoja, to take delivery of sensitive materials such as ballot papers and result sheets that will be used for the polls.

This is the final phase of preparations for the conduct of the Governorship and Senatorial rerun elections in Kogi state.

The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, the Commissioner of Police, party agents and security operatives, were at the venue to witness the handing over of the electoral materials.

The Residents Electoral Commissioner listed the sensitive materials and their destination.

He challenged security agencies to safeguard the electoral materials.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner also spoke about arrangements made to ensure materials get to flooded communities like Bassa and Ibaji Local Government Areas, as well as Koton-Karfe.

The materials will be distributed to the 21 local government areas of the state, from where they will be further distributed to various registration areas.

About 1.6 million voters are expected to participate in the Governorship election across the 21 local government areas of the state.
