Ivory Coast’s former first lady cleared of crimes against humanityA court in Ivory Coast has acquitted former First Lady Simone Gbagbo of crimes against humanity and war crimes charges on Tuesday.

The charges were linked to the 2011 civil war that follow a post election violence that claimed about 3,000 lives when her husband, Laurent Gbagbo refused to accept defeat.
She is already serving 20 years in prison for undermining state security.

The country had refused to extradite her to face similar charges before the International Criminal Court where her husband is standing trial on similar charges.
