INEC rules out extension of Continuous Voter Registration

Image result for INEC rules out extension of CVR beyond deadlineThe Independent National Electoral Commission , INEC has ruled out the possibility of extending the ongoing data capturing in the Continuous Voter Registration exercise after it expires in all the states where it is currently ongoing.

National Commissioner in charge of Osun, Ekiti and Oyo states, Solomon Soyebi said this at the stakeholders meeting in Osogbo.

Rafiu Hammed reports that in preparation for the Osun governorship election, which comes up in about months time, the electoral umpire held a meeting with stakeholders on how to ensure proper planning that will be all inclusive.

The issue of continuous voter registration, and the need for political parties to mobilize people topped the agenda.

A national commissioner of INEC, Solomon Soyebi said the commission is poised to ensure that voters determine who wins elections in the country.

According to him, there will be no room for the use of temporary voter cards as those who registered now and in the last one year would get their permanent voter cards before the September 22 election.

Representatives of political parties expressed satisfaction with INEC’s plan.

The continuous voter registration exercise which commenced on Wednesday 11th of April will last for a week.
