The current amendment of the electoral act by the National Assembly is affecting the total budget compilation for the conduct of the 2019 general election.
Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Yakubu Mahmood disclosed this while defending the 2018 budget of the Commission at the Senate.
Mahmood says the total amount to be spent for the 2019 election will depend on the functions laid out for the commission in the amended law.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on INEC assured that all efforts will be put in place to ensure the election management body is properly funded before the polls.
