The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, is currently meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) as the Commission steps up preparations for key electoral exercises across the country.
The strategic session, taking place at INEC headquarters in Abuja, is focused on finalising plans and logistics for the November 2025 Anambra State governorship election.
Also under discussion are pending bye-elections in several states, operational readiness for the resumption of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, and early groundwork for the 2026 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections.
Prof. Yakubu stressed the need for early planning and seamless coordination to ensure the credibility and smooth conduct of all forthcoming elections.
INEC is expected to announce detailed schedules and guidelines in the coming weeks.
