Patients at the Kiyawa General hospital are calling for urgent government intervention as the facility continues to operate without connection to the national electricity grid.
During an unscheduled visit to the hospital, Governor Umar Namadi expressed dissatisfaction over poor environmental sanitation and the condition of some wards at the health facility.
The Governor says hospitals must maintain a clean and healthy environment at all times, especially for patients receiving treatment and healthcare workers providing services.

He also describes the absence of stable electricity at the facility as unacceptable, noting that reliable power supply remains critical to effective healthcare delivery, storage of medicines, and emergency response.
Governor Namadi says he is surprised that the facility has not yet been connected to the national grid despite its importance to the community.
He, however, assures residents that the government will take the necessary steps to address the situation and improve conditions at the hospital.

The Governor also inspects ongoing construction of additional structures within the facility as part of efforts to expand healthcare services in the area.
While moving round the wards, he directs the management of the hospital to ensure daily sanitation and proper cleanliness across all sections of the facility.
Some patients and residents say improved electricity, cleaner surroundings, and better healthcare facilities will greatly reduce the challenges they face while seeking medical attention.
The health sector remains one of the key priorities under the twelve-point agenda of the present administration, with the government promising to strengthen access to quality healthcare services across Jigawa State.
