A Thursday night fire incident gutted a petrol-laden tanker at the popular Himsu, now MRS fuel station located opposite the Kogi State–owned Prince Abubakar Audu University in Anyigba.
The inferno reportedly broke out while the tanker was dispensing fuel within the station premises, triggering panic among motorists and students in the area.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to TVC News’ reporter in Kogi State said timely local intervention prevented the fire from spreading to nearby student lodges and residential buildings around the university community.

As the fire spread, parts of the fuel station were damaged, with critical equipment destroyed before efforts were made to bring the situation under control.
Local residents and passersby reportedly mobilised to contain the blaze, with no casualties recorded, noting that the absence of a nearby fire service station allowed the fire to burn for several hours.
