Image result for Election fallout: Ebewele, Opara-Asonze threaten to sue Sports ministryFormer internationals Brown Ebewele, Charity Opara and Rosa Collins have threatened legal action against the sports ministry over their disqualifications from the June 13 elections into the board of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.

The trio were disqualified under controversial circumstances few minutes to the commencement of the elections.

They have rejected the poll that produced the Ibrahim Gusau-led AFN board, calling it illegal.

Former Edo State sports commissioner, Ebewele was elected technical official of the federation in May but was disqualified and replaced by Gad Onuamagbo, who did not vie for the election.

But sports minister Solomon Dalung has strongly rebuffed insinuations that the federation elections were manipulated.

He wants aggrieved persons to seek the attention of the appeals committee set up to look into issues concerning the polls.

Newly elected president of the Badminton federation of Nigeria, Francis Orbih wants government to completely hands off the running of sports in the country.

He praised the effort of the sports ministry in putting together the just concluded elections but harped on the need for the federations to stay autonomous.
