The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu, has extended his warm greeting to Nigerians on the joyous celebration of the Eid-ul-Maulid, urging the Muslim Ummah to emulate the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him.

The chairman stated this in a statement made available to TVC on Friday during the eventful celebration.

According to the statement, Argungu describe the celebration as a reminder of the Prophet’s exemplary life of humility, compassion, justice and devotion to the service of humanity.

The chairman emphasised the values the Prophet portrays in his teachings of tolerance and respect for one another as a core principle needed in present-day Nigeria.

The statement reads, “Goodwill Message by the Chairman, Police Service Commission on the Occasion of Eid-ul-Mawlid.

“On behalf of the Police Service Commission, I extend warm greetings to the Muslim Ummah, the staff of the Commission, officers of the Nigeria Police Force, and all Nigerians on the joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Mawlid, the commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

“This celebration is a reminder of the Prophet’s exemplary life of humility, compassion, justice, and devotion to the service of humanity. His teachings continue to inspire values of peace, tolerance, and respect for one another—principles that are most needed in our nation today.

“As we mark this significant day, I call on all Nigerians to reflect on these timeless lessons and imbibe them in our daily lives. For the staff of the Commission and officers of the Nigeria Police Force, may this occasion further strengthen our commitment to selfless service, integrity, and dedication to the protection of lives and property.”

The chairman tasked Nigerians to seize the day as an opportunity to foster unity and promote peaceful coexistence.

“Let us, as a people, use this celebration to foster unity, promote peaceful coexistence, and renew our faith in building a safer and stronger Nigeria.

“I wish you all a blessed and peaceful Eid-ul-Mawlid,” the statement concluded.

A statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, congratulates Muslims in Nigeria and beyond, urging reflection on the Prophet’s virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion.

The statement also calls on Nigerians of all faiths to use the occasion to pray for peace, security, and stability in the country, while supporting the government’s drive for unity and development.
