Court begins hearing of sacked Ondo PHCN former staff

in the suit.

The former PHCN staff numbering over hundred had dragged the Benin electricity Distribution Company(BEDC) to the industrial court claiming that they were wrongly disengaged from service in 2013 without following
due process

Also joined in the suit by the former PHCN staff were: Power Holding Company of Nigeria(PHCN), Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) and National Electricity Liability Management Company (NELMCO)

The workers who are mainly contract staff under the defunct Power Holdings Company of Nigeria (PHCN) were disengaged from service four years ago.

They are also challenging the way they were laid off claiming that the process was unjust.

Counsel to the sacked workers, Ifedayo Olanipekun said the disengaged workers pleaded that they were wrongfully sacked without receiving any benefit

On his part counsel to the Benin electricity Distribution Company, Clement Dauda said the sacked workers were never employed by PHCN.
