Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has officially designated the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna as an alternative to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Keyamo made the declaration during the inaugural flight ceremony held at the newly upgraded airport.
He stated that the airport’s infrastructure meets global aviation standards, boasting a dual runway system and modern facilities capable of handling international traffic.
The minister emphasised that the airport has previously facilitated the airlift of pilgrims to Mecca, further proving its capacity for large-scale operations.
He also lamented that Niger State has long been marginalised in the nation’s aviation sector, adding that with the reopening of the airport, it is time the facilities are fully utilized for the benefit of the people and the economy.
