Troops of 6 Brigade, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Sector 3 of the Nigerian Army, Jalingo, have arrested a suspected gun-runner, Abdulmudallabi Audu, at Shagada Village, under Namnai Ward, in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Jalingo, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, disclosed this in a statement made available to TVC News, noting that the suspect was apprehended following credible intelligence received on 12 November.

According to Lieutenant Muhammad, the timely intelligence prompted a swift operation that led to the successful arrest of the suspect. Preliminary investigation revealed that the 25-year-old suspect was found in possession of the following arms and ammunition:

One (1) AK-47 rifle
Two (2) AK-47 magazines
Fifty-three (53) rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition

The suspect and the recovered items are currently in the custody of the 6 Brigade Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Meanwhile, the Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their vigilance, professionalism, and swift response to actionable intelligence.

He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations across Taraba State to ensure peace, security, and the protection of law-abiding citizens within the North-East and adjoining regions.

Brigadier General Uwa further urged members of the public to continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies in support of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and restore lasting peace in the state.
