Updated: Five persons confirmed dead in Abule Egba explosion

Image result for Five persons confirmed dead in Abule Egba explosionFive persons have been confirmed dead in the pipeline explosion at the Abule Egba/Ekoro area of Lagos which occurred on Sunday night.

The Lagos State Emergency Response Agency, LASEMA and other First Responders who mobilized to the scene activated the State’s Emergency Response Plan and have successfully put out the fire.

Director General of LASEMA, Olufemi Oke-Osayintolu who gave account of casualties and property affected in the explosion, said three Adult Males, one Adult Female and a Five year-old child were killed.

Eleven buildings on four streets and seventeen shops were also razed, while thirty-three trucks, three cars and three tricycles were also burnt in the fire.

Investigations revealed that the inferno was as a result of pipeline vandalisation.

Sarah Ayeku reports that as at few minutes past 8 a.m. the flames were still evident a sign of what had happened on Sunday night.

Eyewitnesses said more orientation should be given to residents occupying the Abule-Egba area, hopefully this will stop the recurring incident.

    We heard that petoleum tankers have disgized using the spot where they siphon the fuel as repair shop. Where are the neighborhood watch of Lagos state when it lasted. I hope Amotekun will learn from incident like this and motivate dia operatives to avoid buy over and adequately report this kain happenings in s/ w.
