The United Arab Emirate Embassy in Abuja has unveiled a 365 day countdown to the 2020 world Expo, the country will be hosting.The six month long exhibition has the theme ‘Connecting minds, Creating the future’ and the sub theme ‘Opportunity mobility and sustainability ‘. This is the first time the Middle East will be hosting the world expo in its 165 years of existence.
Moyo Thomas reports reports that the the countdown was witnessed by government dignitaries and diplomats. The unveiling was to buttress the preparedness of the United Arab Emirates to host the world expo in which about 190 countries will be participating, including Nigeria
The United Arab Emirates Ambassador said the country will be unveiling many wonders and creations at next year’s expo
The Nigerian Minister of State for Industry, Trade and investment, Maryam Katagum, also said the Ministry has started mobilising for the country’s fully participation and would be unveiling innovations too especially in Agriculture
The world fair is a large international exhibition designed to showcase achievements of nations. Participating nations will be present to unveil innovations and inventions by their countries
The show is known to have been the unveiling ground for many world innovations such as the telephone, typewriter and Heinz Ketchup in 1876 in Philadelphia, telegraph in 1851, in London, X-ray machine and Instant Coffee in 1876 in Buffalo, the First Broadcast in 1939 and the first colour TV in 1964.
The next expo will open on the 20th of October 2020 will run all through to April 2021.
