The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Jalingo, Capital of Taraba state has  dismissed the petition filed by the NNPP Governorship candidate, Professor Sani Yahaya challenging victory of Governor Agbu Kefas in the last general election.

The Presiding judge, Justice G.A Sunmonu who delivered the judgment said the petition filed by the NNPP lacks merit and affirmed Governor Agbu Kefas as the duly elected  Governor of Taraba state.

The road is now clear for Taraba state governor Agbu Kefas to focus on government business as the Tribunal has affirmed his election victory.

The NNPP gubernatorial candidate in the last general election had challenged his victory claiming  over voting and other forms of election fraud.

But the election tribunal dismissed NNPP Governornoship candidate claims and  upheld the Election of Governor Agbu Kefas.

Reading the judgement the Chairman of the three man panel of judges, Justice G.A Sumonu said the petition by The New Nigeria people’s Party, NNPP Professor Mohammed Yahaya Sani lacked merit to challenge the victory of Governor Kefas.

The Tribunal said the petitioner failed to proved his case beyond reasonable doubt hence its strike.

Deputy Governor Aminu Abdullahi commended Alkali at the tribunal for affirming the victory of the Governor.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the state Government to usher in more Development to the state and called on NNPP candidate to join the Kefas administration in moving the state forward.

On his part, Counsel to the Governor,Sam Adda described the judgement as confirmation of the masses’ mandate to Governor Agbu Kefas.

The INEC counsel on his part insisted the NNPP candidate has  based his argument on hearsay and not on existing facts.

The NNPP lawyer left the tribunal venue without entertaining questions from newsmen.

It now remains to seen whether the NNPC candidate will appeal against the tribunal judgment.
