The lawmaker representing the Isa-Sabon Birni federal constituency elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdulkadir Jelani Danbuga, is dead.
He was reported dead around 12:30 am on Wednesday after a brief illness.
The Sokoto lawmaker was said to have taken ill on Tuesday and was admitted in an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
His remains have been taken to Sokoto for burial, according to Islamic rites.
Spokesman of the House, Hon. Akin Rotimi, who confirmed the incident, said news of his passing was announced on the lawmakers’ platform this morning, Wednesday.
He added that an official statement from the House of Representatives on the sad incident will come later.
Danbuga is survived by two wives, many children and grandchildren.
